WINTER GARDEN, Fla. (Oct. 31, 2023) – The Rollins women's golf team closed out the fall portion of its season on Tuesday with a seventh-place finish at the NCAA National Championship Fall Preview played at Orange County National Golf Center. The Tars shot six over in the final round to finish the tournament at 13 over par, finishing one stroke ahead of Limestone (+14) and two shots behind Nova Southeastern (+11) and West Texas A&M (+11).

"You can tell that it's Halloween, since mother nature tried to pull a 'trick' and delay us by two hours starting today," Head Coach Julie Garner said. "After the fog lifted, it was a real 'treat' to see some great golf, including Flagler's win today, which is their third this fall. Congratulations as well to Saint Leo for their solid play. I also wanted to say thank you to the teams and coaches for their patience and perseverance as we waited out the fog. Division II golf is in a very good place!"

Flagler won the tournament with a seven-under 569, finishing eight strokes ahead of Saint Leo (577, +1) and 10 shots clear of Barry (579, +3). Barry's Daniela Ballesteros and Flagler's Stella Jelinek tied for first, both shooting six-under 138s; Ballesteros was the individual medalist thanks to a scorecard playoff.

Sophia Fondenaer and Megan Docherty tied for 18th at three over, while Elizabeth Kondal tied for 28th one stroke behind them. Carla Alvarez was another shot back at five over, tied for 37th, and Berni Villalba tied for 56th at nine over.

"It's an honor to host a tournament with so many great teams in the field and we look forward to getting it back going again in the spring," Garner continued. "As for the Tars, we seem to be one round away from putting up some really great numbers. So many bright spots within our team individually and we are looking forward to the day when we can put it together as a team and do something really special. Go Tars!"
