Weather Pauses Day One of the Lynn Invitational

The teams completed the first round of play, but weather rolled in and action was halted, with Rollins in third, as player prepared to make the turn in round two

BOCA RATON, Fla. (April 4, 2022) – The Tars sit tied for third after the first day at the Lynn Invitational at Boca Woods Country Club.  The teams completed the first round of play, but weather rolled in and action was halted as players prepared to make the turn in round two.

The Tars carded a first round of 299, 11 over, to sit fifth after one round of action.  When play was stopped in round two Rollins had climbed two spots, as they end the day in third.
 
Seminole State is leading the field at six over after 28 holes.  Dallas Baptist, the second ranked team in the nation, is second in the standings.  Rollins is tied for third at the half way point.  The Tars are level with Lee.  The Flames ended the first round two strokes ahead of the Tars, but Rollins made up the ground at the start of the second round.  Barry, who were third after 18 holes, currently round out the top five.

Bernardita Villalba and Olivia Tamburlini lead the way for Rollins, tied for ninth overall.  Villalba carded an opening round of 73; she is two over through ten holes in the second round.  Tamburlini was one stroke behind her teammate after 18 holes, but is only one over through seven holes in her second round.  Liza Eubanks opened with a 75, and is two over in second round, placing her in a tie for 18th on the current leaderboard.  Carla Alvarez Perez and Elizabeth Kondal each shot 77 to open the event, but have moved up the leaderboard, both shooting one over as they approach the halfway point of their second 18 holes.
 
Carolin Alblas of Keiser leads the event after day one.  Jordan Karrh of Dallas Baptist and Eve Marie Sapin of Barry are tied for second, four strokes behind the leader.  The duo are one stroke ahead of four golfer ties in fourth.
 
UP NEXT:
The Tars will complete the Lynn University Invitational tomorrow, Tuesday, April 5.  The golfer will resume the second round at 8:15, before heading directly into final round play.
