ORLANDO, Fla. (Nov. 1, 2022) – Senior
Warut Wongrungroj dominated the field to earn the medalist trophy and lead the Rollins men's golf team to an overwhelming victory at the 2022 McDonough Cup on Tuesday at Rio Pinar Country Club. The Tars finished 19 strokes ahead of the field, while Wongrungroj bested the runner-up by nine strokes on the individual leaderboard.
The win marks the fourth time Rollins has hoisted the McDonough Cup, with their last victory coming in 2019. That was also the last year that a Tar finished atop the individual leaderboard, when Morgan Egloff was the medalist.

Wongrungroj shot a three-under 69 on Tuesday, tied for the second-lowest round of the day, to finish with an 11-under 205. Palm Beach Atlantic's Cade Coffey was second with a two-under 214 (72-70-72), and there was a six-way tie for third, including a pair of Tars –
Danny Taggart carded a 74-70-71=215 as an individual, while Drew Lanier shot a 67-70-78=215.
Wigo Weisner moved up into a tie for 13th with a 67 on Tuesday, the lowest round by any player in the third round, giving him a tournament total of 217.
Rodrigo Rodas finished tied for 16th with a 218 after shooting 73 on Tuesday, while
Connor Jones ended up tied for 38th with a 225 after posting a 74 in the final round.
Playing as individuals, three other Tars besides Taggart finished among the top 25, including Axel Einarsson who was tied for 16th with a 218 after shooting 70 on Tuesday.
Jacob Hair took 22nd with a 220 after carding a 73 in the third round, and
Nicholas Diebel was tied for 23rd with a 221 after posting a final-round 77.
On the team leaderboard, Rollins was 10 strokes better than the next-closest team on Tuesday, shooting a five-under 283 to finish the tournament with a 14-under 850 (279-288-283). Flagler was second with a five-over 869 (288-287-294), narrowly edging Embry-Riddle's 870 (290-287-293).
