KILLEN, Ala. (Oct. 18, 2022) – The Rollins men's golf team finished the TVA Community Credit Union Invitational in eighth place after shooting a 312 on Tuesday. The Tars, who were the only non-NCAA I team competing in the event, fell one place on the final day, but finished ahead of NCAA I schools Eastern Illinois and Alabama A&M.
Axel Einarsson finished tied for 26th with a 232 (79-78-75) while
Danny Taggart (84-70-79) and
Connor Jones (80-79-74) both finished tied for 32nd with 233s.
Warut Wongrungroj (77-76-84=237) ended up tied for 42nd and
Nicholas Diebel (76-80-86=242) was tied for 56th. Playing as an individual, Drew Lanier (81-79-81=241) finished tied for 53rd.
The host school, North Alabama, won the tournament by 15 strokes, finishing with a 21-over 885 (300-285-300), with Purdue Fort Wayne holding on for second place with a 900 (297-299-304). IUPUI was three strokes back of IPFW in third with a 903 (301-302-300), with Arkansas – Pine Bluff (302-294-310=906) and Southern Indiana (304-305-305=914) rounding out the top five.
Mississippi State's Austin Vukovits was the individual medalist, firing a two-under 214 (68-75-71) across the 54-hole tournament. Zach Williams from Southern Indiana (70-73-72=215) finished one stroke back at one-under to place second, while Purdue Fort Wayne's Hunter Mefford (71-73-72) and Mississippi State's Alejandro Pedryc (70-72-74) finished tied for third with 216s.
