LAKELAND, Fla. (Oct. 14, 2022) – The 25th-ranked Rollins men's swimming team came up short in its season opener on Friday, falling to 10th-ranked Florida Southern, 162-94 in Lakeland. The Tars are now 0-1 in dual meets this year, while the Mocs are now 1-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Tars capped the day with their only event win, with the quartet of Trey Carter, Cameron Dolly, Tully Njoroge, and William Slowey taking first in the 200-yard freestyle relay, with Rollins' "B" team of Luke Dinges, Michael Tucker, Colin McNew, and Patrick Lester finished second in that same race in 1:28.59.
- The team of Skylar Murphy, Slowey, Dinges, and Carter took second place in the 200-yard Medley Relay with a time of 1:35.06.
- Dolly finished third in the 500-yard freestyle (4:58.69) and the 1000-yard freestyle (10:25.09).
- Carter earned a third-place result with a time of 1:46.57 in the 200-yard freestyle.
- Murphy claimed second in the 100-yard backstroke (53.29) and the 200-yard backstroke (1:57.93).
- Slowey was the runner-up in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 58.11 and placed third in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:10.00.
- Njoroge narrowly edged Slowey in the 200-yard breaststroke, placing second in 2:09.56.
- Dinges grabbed second in the 100-yard butterfly in 51.01, with Diego Spielmann finishing third (56.79) in the same race.
- Connor Xu (2:01.86) and Jacland Reville (2:03.25) took second and third, respectively, in the 200-yard individual medley.

The Tars will travel to Fort Lauderdale tomorrow to take on No. 11 Nova Southeastern in another dual meet slated to begin at 12 p.m.
