SET UP:
The Tars will face a pair of dangerous SSC foes this week. Rollins will open the slate with a make-up date against No. 2 Tampa, who were originally scheduled as the Tars' season opening opponent. Rollins will then stay on the turf at Cahall-Sandspur Field when they host Florida Southern over the weekend.
Rollins (1-1, 1-1 SSC):
Ryan Dunn poured in seven goals in Rollins first win of the season against Saint Leo. The senior has now tallied ten goals and added two assists for 12 total points.Â
Bailey Pringle and
Blake Buell are tied with a team high three assists.Â
Justin Isenhour has caused five turnovers, scooped up six groundballs, and scored one goal to lead the defensive unit.Â
Cody Iserman made 14 saves in Rollins victory over the Lions, while
Kyle Sudol is winning 69% of his draws, and has picked up a team best 17 groundballs.
Â
No. 2 Tampa (4-0, 3-0 SSC):
The Spartans have outscored their opposition 91-25 through four games, as they have stayed near the top of the national polls. Tampa swept the SSC weekly awards last week. Vermont transfer Ben French was named the Offensive Player of the Week after a tallying 12 points over two games, including six goals in a win over Florida Tech. Blake Ulmer headlines the defensive unit, and earned Defensive Player of the Week honors, saving 66% of the shots he faced last week. The Syracuse transfer is allowing just five goals per game. Preseason All-American Ross Dickerson has won 66-78 faceoffs so far in 2021, and was named the Specialist of the Week for his efforts.
Â
Florida Southern (1-1, 1-1 SSC):
The Mocs fell victim to Tampa in their opener, but rebounded with a 17-10 win over Palm Beach Atlantic last time out. Florida Southern's balanced attack has seen 10 players register a point in their first two games. They are led by Jeff Atlas with two goals and, a team best, six assists. Cody Bielec has put the ball in the net five times to lead Florida Southern. Maxwell Freestone has seen the majority of the minutes in net, stopping 31 shots while allowing 31 goals. Kevin Horwitz is facing off at 47%, and has taken all but two draws for the Mocs.
