OSHAWA, Canada. – Rollins men's lacrosse player
Sean Laureano took his game to the international stage this past week, representing Puerto Rico at the 2026 Pan-American Sixes Lacrosse Championships in Oshawa, Canada.
Laureano and Puerto Rico put together a strong showing on the Road to LA28, finishing fourth in the men's competition and securing qualification for the 2027 World Lacrosse Sixes Championships in Colorado Springs.
Puerto Rico picked up their first win early in the event, taking down Jamaica 20-12 in their first game before falling to the United States 10-25.
Puerto Rico punched its ticket to the World Championships with a 21-16 victory over Chile during the final day of pool play. The win put Puerto Rico among the top five teams in the Pan-American region and sent the squad into the bronze-medal game against the Haudenosaunee. Laureano proved key in that win, earning three goals and an assist to help push Puerto Rico into the qualifiers.
Puerto Rico battled to the finish in the medal matchup, holding a one-goal advantage entering the final quarter before the Haudenosaunee rallied for a 15-13 victory. The result placed Puerto Rico fourth overall behind the United States, Canada, and the Haudenosaunee.
Laureano earned seven points across the four contests, scoring five goals and adding another two assists.
The appearance continued Laureano's growing experience on the international stage with Puerto Rico Lacrosse. The Tar previously represented Puerto Rico at the 2025 World Lacrosse Men's U20 Championship in South Korea, where he emerged as one of the tournament's top offensive performers. Laureano totaled 37 points over seven games, including a 10-point performance on four goals and six assists against the Netherlands.
Laureano also represented Puerto Rico at the 2022 World Lacrosse Men's U21 Championship in Ireland.
Puerto Rico will now turn its attention to the 2027 World Lacrosse Sixes Championships, scheduled for October 4-10 in Colorado Springs. The championship serves as the next step on the qualification pathway for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, where lacrosse will make its return to the Olympic program in the Sixes discipline.
For Laureano, the qualification provides another opportunity to represent Puerto Rico on the international stage while carrying Rollins lacrosse with him on the Road to LA28.
