Tars Hold on to Fifth Spot in Alabama

The Tars held steady in the fifth position during the final round of the TVA Community Credit Union Invitational

KILLEN, Ala. (October 19, 2021) – The Tars held steady in the fifth position during the final round of the TVA Community Credit Union Invitational.  Warut Wongrungroj tallied a top-ten finish, tallying even par over 54 holes, good for seventh.

The Tars remained consistent, registering a final round score of 297.  Rollins shot rounds of 298 and 296 on the first day of competition, giving them tournament total of 891, 27 over par.  Southeastern Louisiana charged two spots up the rankings to finish in sixth, but could not catch Rollins, as the Tars secured the top-five result.
 
The top of the team leaderboard remained unchanged from the first 36 holes.  North Alabama shot the day's low round to pull further in front and take the win at their home event.  Valparaiso finished second at 11 over par. The University of Texas-Martin held onto the third spot, three strokes ahead of Southern Illinois.  Rollins rounded out the top-five.

Warut Wongrungroj recorded an even par, 72, over the final 18 holes, as he climbed the leader board two spots to secure a tie for seventh.  Will Koepke also managed a top-ten finish, climbing seven spots with a final round 73, to finish tenth.  Koepke carded four birdies during his ascent.  Rodrigo Rodas matched Koepke's 73 in his final round, tallying a score of 226 for the event, good for 24th position.  Nicholas Diebel added a final round 79 to his score card, registering a tie for 39th.  Jacob Hair finished in 58th position with rounds of 77, 83, and 80.  Jacob Dunlap registered a final round 82 to finish in the 62nd spot as an individual.
 
Tate Chumley of UT-Martin, shot the lowest round of the day, four under, and overtook Caleb VanArragon for individual Medalist honors.  VanArragon, of Valparaiso, finished second.  Matthais Besard, of Southern Illionois, rose one spot to finish alone in third place.  A trio of players, Anthony Delisanti of Valparaiso, Tom Roed Karlsen of North Alabama, and Braden Hoisington of Southern Illinois, all tied for the fourth spot.
 
UP NEXT:
He Tars will take a week off as they prepare to host the McDonough Cup.  Teams will tee off at the Tars home event on Monday, November 1, at Rio Pinar Golf and Country Club.
