Tars In the Hunt at TVA Credit Union Invitational

After 36 holes at the TVA Community Credit Union Invitational, hosted by North Alabama, the Tars sit in fifth, with a score of 18 over par

KILLEN, Ala. (October 18, 2021) – After 36 holes at the TVA Community Credit Union Invitational, hosted by North Alabama, the Tars sit in fifth, with a score of 18 over par.  Warut Wongrungroj leads the Tars with an even par 144, good for ninth place.

The Tars opened the day with a score of 298, ten over par.  The Tars then improved by two strokes in their second trip around the course, tallying a eight-over, 296.  The Tars ended the first two rounds with a score of 18 over par, 594, good for fifth place.
 
The hosts, North Alabama, lead the event with a score of two over par.  Valparaiso sits second three strokes off the lead.  University of Texas-Martin occupies the third spot, shooting 11 over through two rounds.  Southern Illinois earn fourth place after the first day, while the Tars round out the top five.

Warut Wongrungroj tallied the only Tars' round under par on the opening 18 holes, registering a one under, 71.  He followed that with a 73 in the second round, during which he recorded six birdies.  Will Koepke sits alone in 17th with rounds of 73 and 74, for two round total of 147.  Nicholas Diebel shot an opening round 77 before improving by two strokes in the second, tallying a 75.  Rodrigo Rodas registered a 153 over the first 36 holes, good for a tie for 39th position.  Jacob Hair rounds out the Rollins lineup in a tie for 56th, with a 160.  Competing as an individual, Jacob Dunlap sits in a tie for 62nd, with rounds of 84 and 79.
 
Valparaiso's Caleb VanArragon leads the pack at five under.  Tate Chumley of UT-Martin, Tom Roed Karlsen of North Alabama, and Braden Hoisington of Southern Illinois are all tied in the second spot at three under par.  Connor Coombs of Murray State, Matthis Besard of Southern Illinois, and Dawson Garrett of North Alabama are in a three way tie for fifth after 36 holes.
 
UP NEXT:
Rollins will close out the event at Turtle Point Yacht and Country Club tomorrow, October 19.  The Tars will tee off from the first hole at 8 a.m.
