CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (October 17, 2021) – The Tars tallied a final round of 303, as they held steady in 18
th position against a Division I field at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational.Â
Bernardita Villalba led Rollins with a 64
th place finish at the event.

Rollins added a third round of a 15-over, 303, to opening scores of 301 and 295, giving the Tars a total score of 899 over the 54 holes. The Tars pulled away from North Carolina's second team, but were unable to catch any of the teams ahead of them in the final round.

Wake Forest held their 36 hole lead through the final day, pulling away with a score of one under on the day. Clemson rose one spot to take second at the event. The Tigers overtook Virginia Tech, who registered a third place finish. Alabama recorded a score of two under to tally a fourth place result. Kentucky and Duke each tied for fifth.

Bernardita Villalba registered a third round score of 76, after opening the tournament with rounds of 75 and 74. Her total of 225 ranked her in a tie for 64
th.Â
Jennifer Jung shot the Tars low score in the final round, shooting a 75, giving her a 54 hole score of 227, tying her for 73
rd.Â
Elizabeth Kondal finished one stroke back of Jung, with a score of 228, and in a tie for 75
th.Â
Carla Alvarez Perez shot a 76 to end the event at 229, and in a tie for 81
st.Â
Katharina Hesse rounded out the Tars lineup, shooting a final round 76.

Rachel Kuehn of Wake Forest went even on the day to clinch individual medalist honors. Erica Shepard of Duke tallied a final round of two under, to finish one stroke off the leader. Five golfers tied for third place, Ivy Shepard of Clemson, Benedetta Moresco of Alabama, Becca DiNunzio of Virginia Tech, Hailey Borja of Michagan, and Melena Barrientos of Clemson each finished the event at six under.
