series opener against Nova Southeastern Friday night at the NSU
Baseball Complex.

the win and improve to 5-4. He scattered six hits and allowed two
runs, while striking out four and walking four.

After taking a win over Palm Beach Atlantic Wednesday, Rollins
(17-26, 3-19) shifted that momentum towards Friday's series opener
against Nova Southeastern.
After two scoreless innings for both teams, the Tars took the
first lead of the game in the top second. A walk and back-to-back
base hits setup the Tars for the first run of the game. A grounder
to short by Peter
Nicoletto drove in Purcell for the 1-0 lead.
In the home half of the frame, NSU answered back with two runs,
2-1. Mario Urdaneta gave the Sharks the lead on a solo home run
over the right field wall.
Zeros through the fourth inning led to the Tars' 3-run
fifth.
Purcell scored his second run of the game in the fifth after he
was able to safely reach first on a throwing error by the Sharks'
shortstop. The first baseman stole second and was then able to
cross home on a RBI single from Nicoletto.
Nicoletto and Christian
Coburn both scored on Philip
Burket's 2-RBI single to right to give the Tars a 4-2 lead.
In the bottom eighth, NSU cut into the Tars' lead on the Sharks'
second home run of the game. Andres Visbal blasted a solo home run
over the left centerfield wall, 4-3.
In the ninth, junior Spencer
Mumford had a 1-2-3 inning to earn his first save of the year.
Mumford logged 1.1 innings, allowed one hit and did not give up a
run or walk. The right-hander also struck out two.
Roberto Baroniel was charged with the loss in 8.0 innings of
action. Baroniel gave up four runs on five hits and struck out
two. Eight of the nine in the Sharks' lineup registered one
hit.
