WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 5, 2014) - Rollins
used freshman Mike
Gaughan's seven innings of no-hit baseball along with strong
run support to dominate the Concordia-N.Y. Clippers 13-1 Wednesday
afternoon.
Gaughan (1-0) recorded season-bests with 7.0 innings and four
strikeouts in his no-hit performance. The right-hander also picked
up the win.
Concordia starting pitcher Thomas Burke was saddled with the
loss in 7.0 innings of action. He allowed four runs on seven hits,
while striking out three and walking one.
Rollins (8-7) posted a season-best 17 hits with seven of the
starting nine registering at least one hit. Brett

Perlmutter led the team with three hits each. Flutie also
matched a career-best three RBI, while Perlmutter scored a
season-best three runs.
The Tars were slow to get on the board as they plated a pair of
runs in the bottom fourth. Lucas
Valelly scored the Tars' first run of the game on a Tyler
Fairbanks RBI single. Fairbanks would score the final run of
the frame on an Evan
Rivera sacrifice bunt.
Rollins added another run in the fifth as Perlmutter scored his
first run of the game on a shot up the middle.
In the top sixth, Randy Torres scored Concordia's lone run on a
passed ball.
Rollins would score another run in the seventh before putting up
a 9-spot in the bottom eighth. The Tars batted around with half of
the lineup batting again in the same inning. In the top eighth, Benny
Ely pitched in relief and struck out the side.
Frank Angeloni was responsible for eight of the Tars' nine runs
in the bottom eighth. Rollins also registered 10 of their 17 hits
in the eighth.
Concordia did get one hit on the board in the top ninth with a
ball up the middle by Erik Poldroo.
Rollins will face the University of the Sciences on Thursday,
March 6 at 1 p.m.
