WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 3, 2014) - The Rollins
baseball team displayed another dominant pitching performance as Isaiah
Sakany scattered only two hits and did not allow a run to lead
the Tars in a 4-0 shutout victory over the University of the
Sciences Monday night.
Sakany set new career-highs with 6.0 innings of work and seven
strikeouts. His two hits allowed were the only hits the Devils
could muster up against the Tars.
Rollins' bullpen also displayed a solid performance as they
combined for seven strikeouts and two walks. Senior Eric
Morse (3 SV) picked up the save in 2.0 innings on the mound.
Morse struck out five of six batters faced.
The Tars now improve to 6-7 on the year and have now won three
straight games since snapping their five-game losing skid.
The Sciences' starting pitcher, T.J. Maiorino, was saddled with
the loss despite his six-strikeout, one walk effort. Maiorino
allowed three runs on seven hits.
Rollins, who jumped on the board in the bottom second, scored
one run every other inning.

Okazaki scored the Tars' first and second runs of the game. In
the bottom second, Okazaki crossed the plate on a Lucas
Valelly RBI double after reaching on a fielding error by the
Devils shortstop.
In the fourth, Valelly's second double of the day would plate
the Tars' third baseman.
In the bottom sixth, the Tars set the wheels in motion after Mike
Purcell singled to left. He then moved around the bases on
back-to-back base hits, while crossing the plate on a wild
pitch.

Hendricks scored the Tars' final run of the game in the eighth
on a balk.
Okazaki and Valelly each led the team with two hits.
Rollins will next face the Saint Anselm Hawks on Tuesday, March
4 at 6 p.m.
