WINTER PARK, Fla. (February 18, 2011) - Riding a five-game win streak, the Rollins Tars defeated the Bentley Falcons, 5-3 Friday at Alfond Stadium in the Tars second home series of the season.

With the win, Rollins improves to 5-2 for the season, while the Falcons begin the 2011 season 0-1.

Junior Garrett Yount (2-0) tossed a career-high 7 1/3 innings of work to pick up his second win of the season. After giving up a three-run first, Yount was able to hold off Bentley, while senior Alex Venegas secured the Tars win. Venegas retired Bentley 1-2-3 in the ninth to notch his first save of the season.

The Falcons pitching staff managed to keep the Tars scoreless through five innings after Rollins scored a lone run in the opening frame. Chris Holloway scored on a Tony Brunetti RBI single. Holloway finished the night 3-for-4 with a double, a run, and an RBI.

Down 3-1, a late seventh-inning rally would be exactly what the Tars needed. Nick Adams, Tony Brunetti, and Kevin Mager combined for three unanswered runs. Rollins took advantage of two costly Bentley errors early in the inning that allowed for Adams and Brunetti to make their way around the bases.

After reaching on a hit-by-pitch, Adams reached second on a throwing error by Bentley first baseman Lamarre Rey. A pass ball by RHP JP Ashline would allow Adams to advance to third and would score on a Kevin Mager single.

Brunetti, the tying run, would score two batters later on a groundout to short, while Kevin Mager would give the Tars a one-run lead. The Tars scored an insurance run in the eighth with Josh Band giving the Tars the two-run advantage.

Brian Lattanzi and Josh Band each had two hits while Kevin Mager had two hits and an RBI against the Falcons.

Rollins will be back in action tomorrow afternoon (Saturday, Feb. 19) as the Tars take on the Bentley Falcons in game two of the four-game series. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m. For live action of the Tars, check out the Tars Sports Network at RollinsSports.com.
