WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 9, 2008) - Freshman Liz Connelly had a big game for the Tars finding success on 5 out of 5 shots on goal, adding an assist, grabbing four ground balls, causing one turnover, and winning six draw controls against the Warriors of East Stroudsburg University. The Tars fought hard, but fell to ESU in their fourth home game of the season 13-11. With the loss, the Tars drop to 3-4, while the Warriors begin their 2008 campaign with a record of 1-0.

Freshman midfielder Lacy Goodwyn tallied two goals for the Tars, with juniors Annie Harris and Morgan Harries, as well as the freshmen duo of Courtney Bianculli and Katy Tyszko placing one goal each in the cage to round-out the Tars' goal count at 11.

Tyszko would add two assists to her one goal total, with Bianculli recording one as well for the afternoon. Bianculli and freshman Katie Hubbell led the Tars with six ground balls each, followed closely by Harris with five, and sophomore Annie Decker with four. Joining Bianculli with strong defensive pressure was freshman Sarah Rosenblit as they caused three turnovers each throughout the game.

Lisa Weber had another solid game for the Tars. The junior goalkeeper posted 19 saves, collected four ground balls, and caused two turnovers for the team. East Stroudsburg goalie Kristin Mayberry made a total of 13 saves for the day and grabbed three ground balls.

Leading the way for the Warriors was Katie Fretz, Michelle Mangiaruga, and Molly O'Hara, scoring five, four, and three goals, respectively. Renee Maniscalco tallied the final goal for East Stroudsburg for a final tally of 13. Adding support was Jamie Wesztergom with two assists, and Mangiaruga, Maniscalco, Jocelyn Gebhardt, and Eileen Sanderson with one assist each.

The Tars got off to a good start firing off two goals in the first seven and a half minutes, but the Warriors exploded on a six goal streak over the next six and a half minutes to leave the Tars down by four with a score of 6-2. It was a back and forth contest for the remainder of the half as both teams placed three balls into the cage, entering into the halftime break with ESU leading 9-5.

Rollins out-shot the Warriors 6-4 in the second period, but were unable to make a comeback in the time allotted. It was a well matched game as Rollins and ESU made a total of 31 and 35 shots, respectively. ESU led with 14 total draw controls, with Rollins on their heels tallying a total of 12. Both teams were almost equal in ground balls (Rollins 40, ESU 34), fouls (ESU 21, Rollins 20), and turnovers (Rollins 22, ESU 20) as the game came to a close.

The Tars will be back on their home field this Wednesday, March 12, when they take on the Division II Bulldogs of Bryant University at 3:00 p.m. Fans can catch all of the action live on the Citizen's Bank of Florida Tars Sports Network at www.rollinssports.com.
