Lisa Bushman is in her second season with the Tars in 2017 after five seasons as head coach at the University of Montana Western. During her time at Montana Western, she coached five all-conference players, 37 academic all-conference selections and six NAIA-Daktronics Scholar Athletes.
In her first season with the Tars Bushman helped oversee the developement of Bri Civiero, who would capture Honorable Mention All-American Honors as a junior.
In 2011, during her first season in Dillon, Bushman stepped in and made an immediate impact on Montana Western volleyball. The team, coming off a 1-24 season the year before, posted a 7-19 record which was the best season UMW Volleyball had seen in six years. The Bulldogs broke a 30-match conference losing streak and swept rival Montana Tech during conference play. That same season, Bushman saw two senior student-athletes graduate with honors and placed a combined 14 students on the Fall and Spring Dean’s Lists for the 2011-2012 school year (between student-athletes and team managers). During the 2011 season, UMW volleyball also had eight Frontier Conference Academic All-Conference Team selections.
Prior to Montana Western, Lisa spent three years at Michigan State University as a graduate assistant and doctoral student in kinesiology-sport psychology. While in East Lansing, she also served as a sport psychology specialist and club volleyball coach. Prior to Michigan State, Bushman spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Division I Idaho State University. At Idaho State, Bushman was the offensive coordinator and in charge of all stats and video exchange and break down. Bushman coached two All-Conference selections and two players who hold Idaho State records.
As a student-athlete, Bushman was a setter at Idaho State and served as a team captain during her final two seasons. While at Idaho State, Bushman earned bachelor’s degrees in both mathematics and physical education as well as a masters in physical education with an emphasis in athletic administration.
Bushman is from Riverside, California where she graduated from Riverside Poly High School in 2003.
