April 22, 2026
Greetings #TARnation! The event you have all been waiting for is finally here this week. But before we talk about the Tommy Awards, let's get caught up on last week's action in Rollins athletics:
- Men's golf tied for third place at the SSC Championship, using a four-under final round to jump up four spots on Tuesday. All four Tars ... Sean Dobson, Gustav Ordel, Clarence Chapman III, and Mick Herron ... shot par or better to give Rollins a podium finish. This all but guarantees the Tars will be selected for the NCAA South Regional, but we won't find out until Sunday, April 26. Fingers crossed!
- Rowing competed at the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association championship in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The men's Novice 8 had the highlight of the trip. taking bronze in Sunday's finale, finishing just behind Virginia and Purdue. On the Varsity 8 side, a late push saw the Tars finish ahead of Florida and Georgia, putting a bow on a strong performance.  The women's Varsity 8 took ninth overall, while the Varsity 4 finished 11th.Â
- Softball took the series from Tampa, capturing a pair of conference road wins. Camila Leon-Blanco outdueled All-SSC pitcher Gwen McGinnis, leading Rollins to a 7-3 win before Reese Twiggs shutout the Spartans in a 5-0 complete game victory. Daylin Hejtmanek took home SSC Player of the Week honors with four hits, two runs, four RBI, and a stolen base.Â
- Men's lacrosse saw their season come to an end with a gut-wrenching 11-10 loss at Florida Southern on Saturday. After Aaron Williams tied the game with 25 seconds to play, the Mocs snuck in a goal with two seconds remaining to advance to the SSC semifinals. Despite the loss, the boys will be well-represented when the All-SSC selections are released later this week. Â
-Â Sailing claimed a third-place finish at the SAISA Women's Fleet held in Tampa on Saturday and Sunday. The Tars secured eleven Top-5 finishes in the A division, led by skipper Julia Scott and crew Adelaide Matzky. Annie Samis and Jane McKenzie went Top-5 in all ten of their B division races, including a win in the first race of the series.Â
- Women's tennis finished their regular season with a strong 7-0 win against New College of Florida on Thursday. Prior to the match, seniors Sydney Eckstein and Milla Falster were honored by their coaches and teammates.Â
- Men's tennis breezed past New College of Florida, 4-0, and then added a 4-0 triumph against Ave Maria the next day. In the latest ITA poll, the Tars are ranked #8 in the country with a 17-2 record.Â
- Baseball had a tough matchup with #2 Tampa last weekend, dropping all three games of the series. Mauri Bejarano hit .400 for the week with two triples while Brody Meyers tossed a season-high eight innings for a quaity start in the 4-2 series finale loss.Â
- Sailing placed 9th of 18 fleets at the SAISA Spring Open Fleet Race Championship in St. Petersburg. Milo Miller and Jane McKenzie recorded five Top 5 finishes in ten races to pace the Tars attack.Â
-Women's rowing is headed to Sarasota for the SSC Championships on Friday morning. Currently ranked #5 in the country, the Tars are looking to upset reigning champion and rival, #4 Embry-Riddle. A strong showing here is the key to a berth in the NCAA Championship in May.Â
- Women's tennis will be on the other coast of Florida at the same time as they get underway with the SSC Championship against Florida Southern. The Tars enter the tourney as the #6 seed. Earlier this season, Rollins upset the eleventh-ranked Mocs in a 4-3 thriller at the Tennis & Golf Center. They will look to make it two straight vs FSC in a matchup that has massive NCAA Regional implications.Â
- Baseball kicks off their weekend series at Eckerd at one o'clock on Friday. The two teams are neck-and-neck in the SSC standings, with Rollins standing at 17-7 and the Tritons at 16-5. Needless to say, all three games will have a big impact on the regional rankings with the season winding down.Â
- Men's tennis has one more match to tighten up before the SSC tournament next week. Rollins will host the Washington & Lee Generals on Friday at 2pm. Prior to the match, seniors Richie Stoiberer and Fabian Gusic will be recognized for their incredible careers with the Tars. Â
- It's Tommy Time! That's right folks, the Tommy Awards are finally here. All student-athletes are encouraged to come out and celebrate their teammates and fellow Tars with our annual awards show, presented by the Student Athlete Advisory Council. It will be festive evening as we honor the best players, biggest moments, and cherished memories of the 2025-26 school year.Â
