Tars Complete Crowded Week With Perfection

Rollins swept Ave Maria Friday afternoon, clinching the match 4-0

WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 17, 2026) – The Tars owned the courts Friday, cruising to another sweep, this time over Ave Maria University. The dominant win improved Rollins to 17-2 overall and ran the men's win streak to five.

The home blues looked fresh under the midday sun, and so too did the Tars despite playing their third match in five days. The men came out firing in doubles, dropping only one game across all three courts. Moving up a line, Mo Anterist and Fabian Gusic yielded a 6-1 result, while Richard Stoiberer and Pietro Cappellaro cooked up an unblemished start. Equally as impressive despite their migration up were Lawson Prather and Nico de Giacomo, who swept court two in their first and only offering this season from the middle line.

The early advantage would be a sign of things to come for Rollins. First, it was Mo Anterist racing out ahead of the pack once more. The sophomore was the first to ensure his result would be in the scorebook yesterday and went back to the well today. Across those two matches, the steady Anterist was overtaken in just three games. Today's result gave the German his fifteenth win of the season, a team best in the past two seasons.

Pietro Cappellaro continued his consistent efforts from the final line. The fellow sophomore played the minimum number of games this afternoon in what was a dominant performance. Fabian Gusic was nearly as resounding, conceding just one game in his second set from court two. Nonetheless, Gusic's 6-0, 6-1 winner was enough to put a seal on things within 90 minutes of match play getting underway.

Like yesterday, Rollins was ahead across all courts when the match was decided. Firstly, on one, just two games separated Lawson Prather from his twelfth win playing at the West side's main event. The same can be said for senior Richie Stoiberer, who, playing just one court over, was also a pair of games away from adding to his total.

Fellow captain Nico de Giacomo was a little further from the winner's circle, but all signs pointed towards the lefty pulling away down the back stretch. The junior was ahead 2-0 in his second set after establishing an early lead.

Ultimately, the 4-0 score reached the requirements for another victory, the second in as many days. The importance of playing the calendar sequentially was not lost on head coach Jay Friedman, who was pleased with how the men looked on short rest.

"Solid couple of days for us and great to finally get a run through of playing back-to-back before we head to the conference tournament."

Friedman continued, "Looking forward to celebrating our seniors vs the Generals next week and putting some final tweaks into the game plan for the tournament."

As the Tars leader alludes to, the Washington and Lee Generals will set up to battle Rollins for one final match in the regular season a week from today. Senior Day festivities are scheduled to get underway around 12:30pm. Be sure to follow all the action at Rollinssports.com as the team prepares to honor Richard Stoiberer, Fabian Gusic and Eltavious Johnson for their outstanding contributions to the program.
