ORLANDO, Fla. (February 23, 2026) – The Sunshine State Conference released their Player of the Week award winners on Monday afternoon. Rollins freshman
Lawson Prather took home the honor for men's tennis, adding the accolade to his impressive start in Winter Park.
Prather was undefeated on the week, winning two of his matches in straight sets. Included in his unblemished status from court one was a victory over the nation's #1 singles player, Barry's Yan Kodjoed, 6-4, 6-4 on Saturday. Prather also defeated the University of Charleston's Vicente Garcia, 6-3, 6-3, helping the team secure a sweep of the Golden Eagles Tuesday night. In the same match, Prather also helped the Tars clinch the doubles point alongside partner
Nico de Giacomo.
Prather becomes just the fifth player this decade to achieve player of the week honors for the program. The last Rollins winner was Charlie Putrino on April 8
th, 2024. You'd have to go back way further to find the last Tars true freshman to receive the award. That came via former ITA All-American, Neil Clausen, in April of 2009.
"I'm really proud of Lawson," head Coach
Jay Friedman remarked. "I am happy to see him take on the role of lifting our team to new heights."
That quest will continue tonight for Prather and the Tars. The men welcome Bucknell University into their home for a 6pm bout. Later this week, Rollins will play host to regional foe, Tuskegee, on Wednesday night while Middle Georgia State will visit Saturday morning. Be sure to follow the action at Rollinssports.com.
