WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 10, 2026) – Rollins rushed past Tuskegee Wednesday evening en route to their eighth win of the season, and fourth of the South region variety. The Tars swept across the board, clinching first in doubles, before securing a quick three points courtesy of singles victories across the board.
It was a race all evening to see which Tar would take care of business the fastest in their respective match.
Fabian Gusic and
Mo Anterist shared the honor in doubles play to the tune of a 6-1 win from the middle. From there, match point was up for grabs on lines one and three, but ultimately
Nico de Giacomo and
Lawson Prather received the silver medal. The standout combination rallied to take home a 6-4 decision after a tug-of-war early on, just before
Richard Stoiberer and
Pete Tran could complete the same task. The solid showing in doubles put Rollins on the board. After a quick debrief in the locker room, the men were ready to set the singles courts on fire, and they did just that.
Lawson Prather wasted no time doubling the Tars advantage with a 6-0, 6-2 masterful performance from line one. Prather was named the ninth best singles player across all of division II earlier this afternoon, and his skills were on full display tonight. So too were the talents of all his teammates. Rollins opened singles play taking the first game across the board – you simply cannot top that.
Prather wasn't the only Tar who was perfect in his first set. Sophomore
Mo Anterist also headed into set number two with an unblemished 6-0 score to his name. Anterist would also imitate Prather's second set line as well, sealing the deal on court four with a 6-2 symphony that belonged in his home country's Berlin Philharmonic.
Meanwhile,
Fabian Gusic was busy composing a beautiful straight set win of his own. Gusic conceded only two games across his entire match, going 6-2, 6-0 in his first number two action of the spring campaign.
When it was all said and done, Rollins had clinched the match 4-0, a feat that took less than two hours in its totality. With the pre-match stipulations, all other singles matches were halted in place. Still, Richie Stoiberer was two games away from tasting sweet victory while
Pete Tran was even closer. The sophomore was banging on the match's door and simply awaiting a response after cruising to a first set win. The local product was up five games to one at the time of suspension.
Finally,
Pietro Cappellaro had one set under his belt before the bell rang to dismiss. Class was certainly in session tonight, and there is no doubt every Tar checked in for attendance.
"Solid play by the guys tonight. Really enjoyed our school's first matchup with Tuskegee and appreciate them coming this way," head Coach
Jay Friedman commented to one journalist following the match.
"Hoping to the Winter Park community can come out next week as we head into a big week of matches over our Spring Break!"
