WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 1, 2026) – No. 18 Rollins women's lacrosse delivered a dominant performance Sunday afternoon, defeating Westminster 20-8 at Cahall-Sandspur Field.
Thirteen different Tars found the back of the cage in the victory, with 15 players recording at least one point.
Delaney Hudson,
Kali Gagnon, and
Katie Bell each posted hat tricks, while
Gabby Yerardi added a multi-goal performance.
Molly Mendes paced the offense with two assists.
On the defensive end,
Ava Capasso led the team with three ground balls, while
Sunny McQuade and
Anna-Margaret Webber each collected two. Hudson, McQuade,
Ashley Thurston, and
Sydney Nickel each forced two turnovers to anchor the defense. In the draw circle, Bell controlled the middle with five draw controls.
Alyssa Lentz earned the win in goal with eight saves.
Westminster struck quickly, scoring just 15 seconds into the contest. Rollins responded immediately. Gagnon converted on a free-position opportunity, and after a draw control win, Mendes buried a shot to give the Tars the lead for good.
Fiona Rizzo followed with a free-position goal of her own before McQuade raced straight off the draw for an unassisted tally to extend the advantage.
Gagnon continued to control the opening quarter, scoring back-to-back goals to complete her hat trick before the end of the frame as Rollins built early separation.
The second quarter only widened the gap. Hudson opened the scoring with a free-position goal, and
Delanie Abere capitalized in a woman-up situation off Hudson's feed to make it 8-2. Westminster briefly trimmed the deficit, but Yerardi answered off a pass from Mendes. After the Griffins scored twice, Rollins closed the half with two goals of its own, Bell finishing assists from
Allegra Ryan and
Tess Hovivian, to take a commanding 12-5 lead into the break.
Westminster opened the second half with a goal, but Rollins quickly reasserted control.
Chloe Pierini converted in a woman-up situation, and Hudson added another off a free-position attempt. Yerardi found the cage again off a feed from
Holyn Trautwein, and Hudson connected with
Audrey Grace Mumford as the Tars stretched the lead to double digits entering the fourth.
The pace slowed in the final quarter, but Rollins continued to capitalize on opportunities.
Jayme Weber converted on a woman-up advantage off a Mendes assist,
Carsyn Christel added a goal on an Abere setup, and Bell completed her hat trick midway through the period. Westminster added a late goal, but the outcome was firmly in hand as Rollins secured the 20-8 victory.
The Tars improve to 5-1 on the season and return to action Friday, March 6, traveling to face Young Harris at 6 p.m.
