Grayson Crowe secured the opening draw, and Bell quickly converted to give Rollins the lead just 15 seconds into the contest. Alabama-Huntsville answered with an early equalizer, but Delanie Abere responded minutes later to put the Tars back in front.

Rollins continued to build momentum in the opening quarter. Rizzo added her first goal of the day, and Bell struck again in a woman-down situation off a pass from Gagnon to extend the advantage. Hudson capped the scoring in the frame with a woman-down goal of her own off a Trautwein assist, sending Rollins into the second quarter with a 5-1 lead.

The Tars continued to apply pressure in the second. Mendes found the back of the net early to stretch the lead to five. After the Chargers responded with a goal, Hovivian connected with Hudson for another Rollins score, and Gagnon added a tally to push the margin to six. UAH managed one late goal before halftime as Rollins carried an 8-3 lead into the break.
