WINTER PARK, Fla. (February 4, 2026) –The Rollins tennis programs have not played an official match in the 2026 spring season. Yet, both teams have already made quite the impact on – and off - the court. Saturday, January 24
th, launched the inaugural Pro-Am Tournament, hosted by Rollins tennis in collaboration with Orlando Health. The event brought community members, Orlando Health medical professionals, and Rollins players together, all playing for a cause bigger than themselves.
"Events like the Rollins Pro-Am Tournament show the extraordinary impact a community can make when it comes together around a shared mission," said Mark A. Jones, Executive Vice President of the Orlando Health Foundation. "Because 100% of the funds raised will support the Orlando Health Children's Pavilion, this generosity will directly help us create a more connected, compassionate outpatient experience for children and families across Central Florida for generations to come."
This generational impact would not be possible without the diligent efforts by all sides. Rollins junior
Annie Sallick poured her all into helping organize the tournament, which was a smashing success.
"I feel an immense amount of gratitude for everyone who showed up for the tournament: my coaches, teammates, tournament participants, spectators, and Orlando Health employees," reflected Sallick. "It's one thing to play tennis, but it's another thing to know you're saving lives while doing it!"
The impact will not stop there. With the partnership between Orlando Health and Rollins, the Pro-Am is just the tip of the iceberg.
"The event proved to be a great opportunity to engage the community and rally around something each of us should feel responsible to help with," added head men's tennis coach
Jay Friedman. "And that is giving what we can for the kids in our community. We look forward to this partnership sparking many new engagements, and feel our sport is uniquely situated to help."
While many perceive that tennis is an individual sport, the Pro-Am proved that a team identity is at the forefront of the game.
"The Rollins Pro-Am Tournament was a powerful reminder of how the sport of tennis can unite people from all walks of life around a shared purpose: giving back to children and their families," women's head coach
Tasi Purcell Batista said. "Our sincere thanks to Lauren Poppe, Harrison Porter, and their teams for their incredible support and dedication. Thank you as well to Orlando Health for this meaningful partnership. We are deeply appreciative, and look forward to continuing this important work together."
