Dennis Claims SSC Pitcher of the Week

Junior righty was perfect in six innings of work

ORLANDO, Fla. (February 16, 2026) - The Sunshine State Conference announced their Player of the Week awards for games played February 9-15 on Monday. Among the honorees was Rollins starting pitcher Brett Dennis, who was named Pitcher of the Week.

Dennis was literally perfect in his start against Assumption on Saturday. In six innings of work, the junior sat down all 18 batters that he faced. Most impressive was that he did it all on only 60 pitches. He tallied six strikeouts in the start, including striking out the side in the fourth inning. Prior to the game, the coaching staff had told him that he would be removed after the sixth, regardless of outcome in an effort to conserve his arm early in the season.

Rollins went on to win the game, 5-3.

Dennis has made three starts for Rollins this year, and still has not allowed an earned run. He has 15 strikeouts in 15 innings, and is holding opposing hitters to a .143 batting average. This is the first SSC award for Dennis, who transferred into Rollins from Florida Southwestern this year.

Baseball will be back in action on Friday, February 20 when they host the Florida Southern Mocs at Alfond Stadium. First pitch for game one of the series is scheduled for 2:00 pm on Friday.
