WINTER PARK, Fla. (February 25, 2026) - Baseball continued their hot streak on Wednesday, winning their eighth straight game with a 14-1 blowout of the Flagler Saints. The Tars now stand at 10-4 on the year while the Saints move to 12-3.
Coby Vallee drew the start for Rollins in his first action of the year, and was incredibly efficient. He went three up, three down in the first thanks to a double play, and was instantly rewarded in the bottom half.
Joey Rubin and
Collin Hughes each singled, with Rubin coming in to score on a wild pitch. Two batters later, a groundball from
Matthew Mateo brough Hughes in to make it 2-0.
The Saints put a runner on third in the second inning, but Vallee used a well-placed changeup to strikeout the final batter. The Tars again got the scoreboard working when
Stephen Deans delivered a fly ball to left that plated
Jimmy Thies.
Flagler went down in order again in the third, and the Tars were back in the box before you knew it. With one out, Hughes flared a double down the left field line, and was promptly brought home on a triple from
Michael Furry. Mateo was up next, and his sac fly to center was plenty deep to score Furry, making it 5-0.
The coaching staff had predetermined the pitching rotation before the game, and
Robert Ogg drew the next inning of work. The big righty was perfect, retiring all three batters he faced.
The bottom of the fourth inning was a wild one for Rollins. They ended up scoring nine runs on only three hits, helped by four walks and two hit batters. Deans had an RBI single, Hughes had an RBI single, Furry walked with the bases loaded, a wild pitch brought Rubin home, Thies walked with the bases loaded, and then JAyden BRown delivered a monster grand slam to right field to cap the scoring as the Tars held a 14-0 lead.
Ryan Taylor threw a scoreless fifth inning, helped by a nifty double play from Rubin to
Mauri Bejarano to
Connor O'Sullivan. In the sixth,
Mark Loubier completed the inning on only five pitches as he also induced a double play ball. Then, playing to the script of the day,
Anthony Matteis caused the fourth grounball double play of the day to close things out in the seventh as the Tars mercy-ruled the Saints.
Rollins collected nine hits in the game, three of which came from the bat of Hughes. He scored all three times that he reached base. Furry had a hit, two walks, two runs and two RBI in the game. Thies scored three times without a hit, earning three free passes. And Brown's grand slam was his second home run of the year.
Next up for the Tars is a weekend series at Saint Leo. The Friday game was moved up from 5om to 3 pm, and there are talks of moving the Saturday game to Sunday for a doubleheader due to potential rainy weather. Stay tuned to RollinsSports for the latest updates.
