Box Score WINTER PARK, Fla. (January 3, 2026) – Rollins women's basketball dropped a road contest to Barry on Saturday afternoon, falling 62–48.
Faith Newton opened the scoring with a three before
Grace Craig added a layup and
Tara Murray knocked down another triple, giving the Tars an early 8–0 lead. Barry finally broke through, but Newton answered right back to keep momentum with Rollins.
Victoria Escribano added a layup, and Murray connected from deep again to force a Barry timeout. Off the bench,
McKenna Murphy buried a jumper to extend the lead before a scoring drought slowed the pace. The Bucs added one final basket, but Rollins closed the first ahead 17–9.
Barry came out strong to start the second quarter, using an 11–0 run to take its first lead of the day. Newton halted the push with a three to tie things at 20, then continued trading baskets with the Bucs until a triple from
Claire Erickson swung the advantage back to Rollins. Free throws from Erickson and Murray capped the half, sending the Tars into the locker room up 30–25.
Barry regained its rhythm coming out of halftime, trimming the deficit while Murray added two at the line to steady the Tars. Erickson connected again from three, but another Buccaneer surge flipped the lead. Craig answered with a layup to bring it back within a possession, though Barry continued to push. Newton drilled another three to keep Rollins within reach, but the Bucs extended the gap to 10 heading into the fourth.
Newton opened the final frame with yet another three, followed by a Craig layup to cut the deficit to five. Barry responded with another run, and while Erickson added a free throw to slow the momentum, the Bucs maintained control. A late layup from
Makayla Daube and one more finish from Newton rounded out the scoring, but Barry closed out the 62–48 final.
Newton paced the Tars with 17 points, including three threes. Murray added 10 points with two triples of her own while going a perfect 4-for-4 from the line. Erickson finished with nine points and six rebounds, and Craig posted a team-high 12 boards to go along with six points and three assists.
Rollins moves to 5–8 overall and 0–6 in SSC play, while Barry improves to 5-7 (2-3 SSC). The Tars return to action Wednesday, Jan. 7, for a 5:30 p.m. conference matchup at Eckerd.
