ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. (September 30, 2025) - Men's golf opened their fall season in the best possible way, shooting a 848 (-16) across three rounds at the Jay Jennison Cup, hosted by Flagler at King & Bear in St. Augustine.
The Tars set the tone early on Monday, playing through sloppy conditions for a 282, the lowest round in the field.
Jules Haessig led the charge, posting five birdies and twelve pars in his round for a 68. Just two strokes behind him was sophomore
Mick Herron who played a clean round with two birdies and sixteen pars.
Sean Dobson joined them under par wit a 71 (-1) following his three birdies and two bogeys.
Andrew Clark closed out the scoring with a 73.
The second round was played across two days due to weather. Rollins was absolutely unphased, posting an incredible 278 to grow their lead to seven strokes. Haessig and Dobson each had a nice round, posting matching 69s (-3). Dobson in particular had a wild time, recording seven birdies in the round. Clark improved his first round effort with a 70, while Clarence Chapman entered the scoring with a 70 as well.
Tuesday afternoon saw things get close as Flagler and Embry-Riddle each shot impressive rounds, pulling within one shot of the Tars. Dobson came through in the clutch for the Tars, landing an eagle on hole 14 and wrapping his round with a birdie on the final hole to finish at 71. Chapman matched him with both a 71 for the round and an eagle on 14. Haessig finished his event with a 73, and Herron was back on the books with a 73 as well.
The Tars won with a final score of sixteen-under, three shots better than the host Flagler Saints. Eckerd took third (-9), Barry (-6) was fourth, and Nova Southeastern (E) rounded out the top 5.
Haessig was the top individual performer for Rollins, posting a 210 (-6), two shots off of champion Ivan Ponsdomenech from Nova Southeastern. Dobson was one shot behind in a tie for 7th at -5. Herron captured 15th, and Clark tied for 20th.
The Tars will take a weekend off before heading to Innisbrook Golf Club for the Copperhead Invitational hosted by West Florida October 13-14.
