Winter Park, Fla. – Rollins battled through an exciting four-set contest in Tuesday's home opener, outlasting Flagler 3–1 (20–25, 25–23, 25–22, 28–26).
The Saints struck first, building early momentum to claim the opening set. Rollins responded in the second, leaning on a balanced attack and a 69% sideout rate to stay in system and even the match. The Tars carried that energy into the third, racing out to a 6–1 start before stringing together a decisive 7–1 run to pull in front. The fourth frame turned into a back-and-forth battle, with Rollins staving off two set points before Marta Tsaneva sealed the win with back-to-back kills.
Tsaneva paced the offense with 14 kills on an efficient .417 hitting percentage, while Cameron Grange joined her in double figures with 11. Setters Jenna Garza and Molly Morris steered the attack, each dishing out 20-plus assists. Garza also sparked the service game, dropping in a team-high three aces.
The evening also featured a special moment off the court, as Rollins was joined by guest coaches President Dr. Brooke Barnett and her husband, Dr. Tom Mould, professor of Anthropology and Folklore, who took part in the match-day experience.
With the victory, Rollins improves to 11–2 on the season. The Tars hit the road on Friday, Sept. 26, opening Sunshine State Conference play with a 6 p.m. matchup at Embry-Riddle. Fans can visit the Rollins Volleyball schedule page for more information, including live stats and streaming links.
