BLUFFTON, SC (September 17, 2025) - Women's soccer suffered their first defeat of the season on Wednesday, falling 1-0 on the road at USC Beaufort. The Tars now stand at 4-1-0 on the year, while the Sand Sharks stay undefeated at 5-0-0.
Rollins decided to make this a day trip, leaving early on Wednesday for the four-hour trek to Bluffton, South Carolina. USC Beaufort came out firing, putting six shots towards goalie
Lauren Mehos in the first 15 minutes of action. During a one-minute span in the 15th and 16th minutes, the Sandsharks took three shots and had three corner kicks. On the final set piece, Lauren Carmichael crossed the ball into the zone where Savanna Page was able to head it past Mehos for the lone goal of the game.
The Tars had plenty of chances, recording a total of seven shots with six on target. Unfortunately, keeper Cici Powe was up to the task, stopping all six that were headed for the net. Meanwhile, Mehos played admirably in the opposite cage, stopping six shots herself. While the second half had plenty of chances, none came to fruition as the game ended 1-0.Â
The Sand Sharks dominated in both total shots (18-10) and corner kicks (14-3).Â
Rollins will have a week to rest and regroup before opening SSC play on Wednesday, September 24 against Florida Tech. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm from Cahall-Sandspur Field in Winter Park.Â
