Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Tars Stunned by Panthers

Florida Tech defeated Rollins 3-2 on Wednesday night

WINTER PARK, Fla. (September 24, 2025) - Women's soccer left Cahall-Sandspur Field stunned following their 3-2 loss against Florida Tech on Wednesday night. The loss moves Rollins to 4-2-0 (0-1-0 SSC) on the season while the Panthers improve to 4-1-2 (1-0-1 SSC).

Rollins controlled almost every aspect of the first half, controlling tempo and earning solid looks at the net. In the tenth minute, a high-arching cross was lifted in to the Tech box, and knocked away by a defender. Fortunately, Gabby Boyd had crashed in as a trailer, and smashed the rebound past the keeper for a 1-0 lead.

Just ten minutes later, the Tars found themselves in a familiar position, taking a corner kick. Emma Griner launched the ball into the box, and after bouncing off a handful of players, it landed by Alayna Townsend. The freshman somehow found a lane to push the ball past the Tech keeper for her third goal of the year.

Rollins outshot Tech 9-7 in the first half, and also held an 8-5 advantage in corner kicks.

For forty minutes in the second half, Rollins maintained their lead, putting good pressure on the Panther defense while also stalling each Panther attack. In the 86th minute, Rebecca Storr was able to float a chip shot over the head of Lauren Mehos to cut the lead in half.

Three minutes later, Sara Batchadji equalized the game with a tremendous shot following a failed clear from the Tars.

The nail in the coffin then came at the 88:53 mark, just 67 seconds away from the final horn. The Panthers continued their frenetic attack, and the Tars seemingly stopped them. The ball was cleared all the way to midfield, but landed at the feet of Storr with no one around. After taking a couple of steps, she unleashed a rocket from more than 40 yards out and put the Panthers ahead for good.

Coming into the game, Rollins had allowed two goals in five games. Prior to the scoring barrage, Mehos was phenomenal in goal, thwarting six shots with a variety of diving stops.

Next up for the Tars is a road match against Barry on Saturday, September 27. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
