Docherty Collects WGCA All-South Region Honors

Senior led the Tars in scoring average and had nine Top 10 finishes

BOULDER CITY, Nevada (May 16, 2025) – The Women's Golf Coaches Association has announced the 2024-25 student-athlete awards for Division II Women's Collegiate Golf. The Division II PING WGCA Player of the Year, Division II WGCA Freshman of the Year Presented by Strackaline, WGCA Division II First Team All-Americans, WGCA All-Freshman Team, and WGCA Division II All-Region Teams were recognized at the Division II NCAA Women's Golf Championship in Boulder City, Nevada. The remaining WGCA All-American Teams, Golf Pride Regional Coaches of the Year, Kim Moore Spirit Award, Golf Pride WGCA Assistant Coach of the Year, and the Jackie Steinmann WGCA National Coach of the Year Presented by Golf Pride will be announced following the NCAA Championships.

Among the honorees in the South Region was Rollins senior Megan Docherty. The Scottish native helped the Tars stay in the Top 20 of the national poll throughout the entire season as she finished in the Top 10 of nine different tournaments. Her most recent accomplishment was a tie for 9th at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional. Other notable finishes for Docherty included sixth at the Boston College Red Bandanna Invitational, fourth at the Rollins Legends Invitational, fifth at the Cal State San Marcos Fujikara Invitational, and seventh at the SSC Championship.

In 34 rounds of play, Docherty averaged a 74.1 per session that included six rounds at par or better. She also finished 20th or better in eleven of the twelve tournaments that she played.

"Megan is a coach's dream; she works hard, listens to understand, and is a great teammate," remarked Director of Golf Julie Garner. "We are very proud of her All-South Region selection! She improved throughout her time here while maintaining an almost perfect academic career, and graduated in time despite transferring as a rising junior. Our only regret is that she wasn't here longer. With her intellect and work ethic, she will have a very productive career in whatever field she chooses."
