BOCA RATON, Fla. (April 23, 2025) – The Rollins men's lacrosse team scored four goals in a span of less than two minutes in the fourth quarter on Wednesday to capture a 12-11 win over 18th-ranked and second-seeded Lynn (10-5) in the semifinals of the SSC Men's Lacrosse Championship Presented by Pollo Campero. The Tars (10-7) will now advance to Saturday's championship game at top-ranked and top-seeded Tampa at 1 p.m.
Jack Johnstone led all players with five goals and two assists, while
Seth Isenhour chipped in with two goals and an assist and
Sean Caracciolo tallied a pair of assists.
Maxwell Beuck (10-7) made nine saves on 20 shots to earn the win in goal.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Quarter
- Lynn got off to a blistering start, scoring the first four goals of the game in just over four minutes.
- The Tars settled down after that, and Rollins got goals from Aaron Williams and Johnstone late in the quarter while only surrendering one more goal, cutting Lynn's lead to 5-2.
Second Quarter
- Chad Bulera and Johnstone scored the first two goals of the second quarter, trimming the deficit to 5-4.
- After a Lynn goal, Johnstone put home his third of the game to make it a 6-5 contest at the half.
Third Quarter
- The Fighting Knights pushed their lead to 8-5 early in the third before Carder Ungerott and Isenhour each found the back of the net to get Rollins back within a goal at 8-7.
- Lynn tallied one more marker in the quarter to give the home team a 9-7 edge heading to the fourth period.
Fourth Quarter
- Neither team scored in the first 6:38 of the quarter, but Johnstone sparked a big rally for the Tars with his fourth goal of the game at the 8:22 mark.
- Avery Kamuf scored a man-up goal 1:07 later to tie the game at nine, and just eight seconds after that, Johnstone scored again to put Rollins in front for the first time all game, 10-9.
- Just 40 seconds later, Sam Mattson buried a shot to extend the Tar lead to 11-9.
- Lynn got back within a goal with 3:15 to play, and the Fighting Knights drew level once again with a goal just 27 seconds later, tying the game at 11 with 2:48 to play.
- The score remained tied until Williams found Isenhour for the game-winning goal with just 41 ticks on the clock, which lifted the Blue and Gold to a 12-11 victory.
