TAMPA, Fla. (April 2, 2025) – The 15th-ranked Rollins women's lacrosse team dropped a 15-5 contest at No. 2 Tampa on Wednesday afternoon. The Tars are now 7-5 on the year, 0-3 in conference, while the Spartans go to 11-1 overall and 2-1 in SSC play.
Tess Hovivian,
Madison McGarry,
Grace Barta,
Sunny McQuade, and
Katie Bell all scored a goal in the game, while
Holyn Trautwein had a team-high six draw controls and
Ava Capasso picked up a team-leading three ground balls.
Anya Studebaker (1-3) made five saves on 13 shots in goal for the Tars.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Quarter
- Tampa got off to a quick start, outscoring the Tars 5-0 in the first.
Second Quarter
- Bell got the Blue and Gold on the board in the second, though the Spartans tallied three more markers in the frame to go up 8-1 at halftime.
Third Quarter
- Barta and McGarry found the back of the net in the third as Tampa extended its lead to 11-3.
Fourth Quarter
- McQuade and Hovivian both scored in the fourth as the Spartans pulled away for the 15-5 win.
