WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 2, 2025) – The Rollins men's lacrosse team snapped a six-game losing streak on Wednesday with a 20-13 defeat of visiting Florida Southern. The win pushes the Tars to 4-7 overall and 1-2 in conference, while the Mocs drop to 3-8, 1-3 in SSC play.
Sam Mattson and
Nate Paulo each tallied three goals and an assist, with Mattson also grabbing two ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Seth Isenhour chipped in with two goals and three assists,
Chad Bulera netted three goals, and
Logan McHugh,
Avery Kamuf,
Jack Johnstone, and
Frankie Hapney all contributed a pair of goals.
Maxwell Beuck (4-7) made 10 saves on 21 shots in goal to earn the win.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Quarter
- After FSC opened the scoring, McHugh and Mattson scored goals just over a minute apart to give Rollins a 2-1 lead.
- The Mocs responded with three straight goals to take a 4-2 lead after one quarter.
Second Quarter
- The Blue and Gold dominated the second quarter, outscoring Florida Southern 6-1.
- Mattson, Johnstone, and Bulera all scored in the first seven minutes of the period to put the Tars in front, 5-4.
- After FSC tied it, Johnstone, McHugh, and Isenhour each found the back of the net to put the home team ahead 8-5 at the half.
Third Quarter
- Florida Southern scored just over a minute into the third quarter, but Rollins responded by rattling off six consecutive goals to build a comfortable lead.
- Max Armitage started the string of goals, followed by a pair of Paulo goals.
- Bulera, Mattson, and Isenhour all joined in the fun to extend the lead to 14-6.
- FSC scored in the closing minutes of the period but Bulera answered with a goal in the final 20 seconds to make it a 15-7 game heading to the fourth.
Fourth Quarter
- The Tars were never truly challenged in the fourth quarter, as Hapney and Kamuf each scored twice along with a goal from Paulo to give Rollins a 20-13 victory.
