Tars Down Panthers in SSC Quarterfinals

Rollins will face Lynn in the semifinals on Wednesday, April 23rd

WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 19, 2025) – The Rollins men's lacrosse team earned a 13-8 victory over Florida Tech on Saturday in the quarterfinals of the 2025 SSC Men's Lacrosse Championship Presented by Pollo Campero. The Tars (9-7) will move on to face 19th-ranked and second-seeded Lynn in the semifinals on Wednesday, April 23rd in Boca Raton.
 
Seth Isenhour had a game-high five points on four goals and an assist, while Aaron Williams chipped in with two goals and an assist. Same Mattson and Chad Bulera each netted a pair of goals, and Jack Johnstone contributed a goal and an assist. Thomas Garvin was 9-of-14 in faceoffs with three ground balls and an assist, while Hunter Jones was 7-of-10 with two ground balls. Maxwell Beuck (9-7) made 10 saves on 18 shots to earn the win in goal.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Quarter
  • Rollins wasted no time as Isenhour scored just seven seconds into the contest.
  • Johnstone and Bulera backed that up with goals in the first 3:06 of the game, while Isenhour scored his second of the quarter to give the Tars a 4-0 lead after one period.
Second Quarter
  • Florida Tech got on the board just over four minutes into the second quarter, with Bulera answering just over a minute later to make it 5-1 Tars.
  • The Panthers scored twice more in the quarter, with Rollins answering each time, giving the Blue and Gold a 7-3 lead at the break.
Third Quarter
  • Logan McHugh opened the scoring in the second half to extend the lead to 8-3.
  • The two sides traded goals throughout the remainder of the third quarter as Rollins carried a 10-6 advantage to the fourth.
Fourth Quarter
  • Florida Tech got to within three with a goal 3:29 into the final period, cutting the deficit to 10-7, but that was as close as the visitors would get.
  • Mattson fired home a goal less than a minute later, and with 2:50 on the clock he scored again to make it 12-7.
  • Each team found the back of the net once in the final 2:30 as Rollins cruised to a 13-8 win.

Rollins will travel to Boca Raton on Wednesday, April 23rd, to face 19th-ranked and second-seeded Lynn in the semifinals of the 2025 SSC Men's Lacrosse Championship Presented by Pollo Campero. That game is slated for a 6 p.m. start.
