WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 7, 2025) – The Rollins softball team swept a doubleheader with visiting Adelphi on Friday, winning 2-1 and 8-0 in six innings. The Tars are now 14-5 on the year, while the Panthers drop to 1-5.
Game 1 – Rollins 2, Adelphi 1
Brianna Perantoni went 2-for-3 with a run scored while
Grace Germer was 1-for-2 with a solo home run.
Reese Twiggs (6-0) was dominant in the circle, allowing one unearned run on two hits while walking two and striking out eight in a complete game.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Inning
- Perantoni led off the home half of the first with a base hit and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt from Brooke Theisen and then took third on a wild pitch.
- Two batters later, Jaden Walker lifted a fly ball to right that was deep enough to score Perantoni with the game's first run.
Second Inning
- The Panthers pushed across in the second to tie the game, scoring on a throwing error.
Fifth Inning
- The score remained knotted at one until Germer launched a one-out solo home run in the fifth, putting Rollins back in front, 2-1.
Seventh Inning
- Twiggs made that one-run lead stand up, retiring the last eight batters in a row, including a 1-2-3 seventh inning to secure the 2-1 win.
Game 2 – Rollins 8, Adelphi 0 (6 innings)
In the nightcap, Perantoni was 2-for-2 with a stolen base, an RBI, and two runs scored, while Theisen was 2-for-4 with a double, a stolen base, two RBIs, and two runs scored.
Camila Leon-Blanco (4-0) gave up just two hits while racking up eight strikeouts in the six-inning complete game shutout.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Inning
- Perantoni again led off with a base hit, and Theisen followed with a double to score her, putting Rollins in front, 1-0.
- Two batters later, Madi Carr knocked in Theisen with a groundout to double the lead to 2-0.
Second Inning
- Rollins sent 10 batters to the plate in the second, plating five runs.
- Jenna Borkey got things started with a one-out bunt single, with Rachel Matthiesen and Germer following with base hits to load the bases.
- Perantoni drove in Borkey with a sacrifice fly to make it 3-0.
- Theisen then singled home Matthiesen, increasing the lead to 4-0.
- After Germer scored on a wild pitch, Michelli hit a two-run home run to left to put Rollins comfortably in front, 7-0.
Sixth Inning
- The score remained 7-0 until the sixth, when Perantoni led off with a single, stole second, took third on a groundout, and scored on a walk-off RBI single from Claire Long.
