WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 6, 2025) – The 17th-ranked Rollins women's lacrosse team collected a 10-5 win over visiting Lenoir-Rhyne on Thursday night. The win pushes the Tars to 4-2 on the year, while the Bears drop to 1-5. The win gives Head Coach
Dennis Short 200 career victories as the head coach of the Tars.
Katie Bell scored a game-high four goals while
Delaney Hudson tallied four points on two goals and two assists.
Sydney Nickel added two goals and an assist, and
Jayme Weber contributed a goal and an assist.
Angelina Vitale (3-2) earned the win in goal, stopping five of the 10 shots she faced.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Quarter
- Bell scored the first goal of the game, which held up as the only goal until the final 92 seconds of the opening quarter.
- The Bears tied it up with 1:32 to go, but Aleksa Allen put Rollins back in front with a marker with 20 seconds left, giving the Tars a 2-1 edge after one period.
Second Quarter
- Hudson opened the scoring in the second, but Lenoir-Rhyne responded with two straight goals to tie things up at three.
- Bell answered back with three consecutive goals in the closing minutes of the half, giving the Blue and Gold a 6-3 lead at the break.
Third Quarter
- Nickel scored first in the third to make it 7-3, and after a Bears goal, Hudson scored her second of the game to make it 8-4.
Fourth Quarter
- Weber and Nickel scored in the first five minutes of the fourth quarter, lifting the lead to 10-4.
- Lenoir-Rhyne tallied the final goal of the game with 21 seconds to go, accounting for the 10-5 final score.
