No. 13 Rollins Edged Out by Florida Tech, 14-13

The Tars dropped their second straight one-goal contest

WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 29, 2025) – The 13th-ranked Rollins women's lacrosse team dropped its second straight one-goal game on Saturday night, falling to 22nd-ranked Florida Tech, 14-13. The Tars drop to 7-4 overall, 0-2 in SSC play, while the Panthers go to 5-7, 1-1 in conference.
 
Katie Bell and Delanie Abere led the Tars with four goals apiece while Aleksa Allen tallied two goals, an assist, and a team-high three ground balls. Anya Studebaker (1-2) made one save on seven shots in relief but suffered the defeat in goal.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Quarter
  • Florida Tech struck for the first two goals before Tess Hovivian got the Tars on the board at the 10:05 mark of the first.
  • Abere, Madison McGarry, and Bell followed up with goals to give Rollins a 4-2 lead with 5:28 to go in the quarter.
  • The Panthers got one back to make it a 4-3 game heading to the second period.
Second Quarter
  • Allen got the first goal of the second but Florida Tech netted the next three goals to go up 6-5.
  • After Abere tied it, the visitors put home two more goals before halftime, giving the Panthers an 8-6 lead at the break.
Third Quarter
  • Abere and Bell each potted a pair of goals in the third and Fiona Rizzo scored the final goal of the quarter as the Tars outscored Florida Tech, 5-3, tying the game at 11.
Fourth Quarter
  • The two sides traded goals in the fourth quarter, with the Panthers scoring first before Bell tied it up at 12.
  • After another Florida Tech goal, Allen tied the game at 13 with 1:57 to play.
  • The Panthers scored with 31 seconds left and Rollins didn't have enough time to tie the game for a third time in the period, giving Florida Tech a 14-13 win.

Rollins will hit the road for the first time in over a month when they travel to top-ranked Tampa on Wednesday, April 2 for a 4 p.m. contest.
