WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 16, 2025) – The 17th-ranked Rollins women's lacrosse team won its fifth straight game on Sunday, downing visiting Alabama – Huntsville, 13-11. The Tars are now 6-2 on the year, while the Chargers fall to 4-8.
Aleksa Allen led the way with four goals while
Sydney Nickel tallied a goal, two assists, and two draw controls.
Holyn Trautwein corralled a game-high 12 draw controls and
Angelina Vitale (5-2) made eight saves in goal.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Quarter
- The Chargers scored first but Nickel answered right back just 19 seconds later to tie the game at one.
- After UAH scored a pair to go up 3-1, Fiona Rizzo and Allen put home back-to-back goals to tie things at three.
- The visitors regained a one-goal lead before Delanie Abere and Abigail DeGroat tallied goals to give the Tars a 5-4 edge after one quarter.
Second Quarter
- UAH tied the game at five with a goal just over a minute into the second period.
- Allen and Rizzo then scored the next two markers, putting Rollins up 7-5.
- The Chargers came back to score the final three goals of the half, giving the visitors an 8-7 lead at the break.
Third Quarter
- Rollins dominated the third period, outscoring Alabama – Huntsville 5-0 in the frame.
- Allen got the first two goals with Katie Bell, Madison McGarry, and DeGroat all finding the back of the net as well, giving Rollins a 12-8 lead heading to the final quarter.
Fourth Quarter
- After the two sides traded early goals, UAH scored two in a row to cut the deficit to 13-11, but the Tars were able to stand tall defensively to keep the Chargers off the board for the final 5:32 to hold on for the 13-11 win.

The Tars will close out the non-conference portion of the 2025 season on Friday, March 21st, when they host Montevallo at 7:30 p.m.
