No. 14 Tars Run Win Streak to Six with 17-3 Victory

Rollins defeated Montevallo by 14 goals on Friday night

WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 21, 2025) – The 14th-ranked Rollins women's lacrosse team dominated visiting Montevallo on Friday night, winning by a score of 17-3 to push its winning streak to six games. The Tars are now 7-2 on the year, while the Falcons drop to 5-5.
 
Fiona Rizzo led the Tars with three goals, two assists, and two ground balls, while Aleksa Allen tallied three goals and three ground balls. Holyn Trautwein collected a game-high nine draw controls and scored a goal and picked up two ground balls. Angelina Vitale (6-2) made one save on three shots in 45 minutes of action in goal.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Quarter
  • Allen opened the scoring less than two minutes into the game, and the Tars wasted no time building a lead, as Rollins tacked on five more goals in the quarter to take a 6-0 lead to the second period.
Second Quarter
  • Rizzo scored the first goal of the frame to make it 7-0 before Montevallo tallied its first goal just over a minute later.
  • Rollins answered back with three straight goals to push the lead to 10-1.
  • The Falcons scored with 1:01 left in the half and Grace Barta got the goal right back just 22 seconds later, giving Rollins an 11-2 edge at the break.
Third Quarter
  • Sydney Nickel scored at the 8:41 mark of the third to make it a 12-2 game, which put the contest into a running clock, where it remained for the rest of the game.
  • Jayme Weber scored with just over a minute left in the quarter to make it 13-2 Tars, as Rollins held the visitors off the score sheet in the period.
Fourth Quarter
  • The Blue and Gold tacked on four more goals in the fourth quarter while surrendering just one, giving the home team a commanding 17-3 victory.

Rollins will kick off SSC play on Tuesday, March 25th, when it hosts No. 7 Embry-Riddle at 7:30 p.m.
