WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 16, 2025) – The 20th-ranked Rollins men's lacrosse team came up short on Saturday, falling to ninth-ranked Maryville, 16-9. The Tars are now 3-5 on the season, while the Saints go to 5-3.
Jack Johnstone led the Tars with three goals and an assist to go along with three ground balls, while
Aaron Williams added two goals and a ground ball.
Hunter Jones was 7-for-11 in faceoffs, and
Maxwell Beuck (3-5) made 14 saves in the cage for the Blue and Gold.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Quarter
- Maryville opened the scoring 4:14 into the game, but Logan Myers quickly answered back with a goal 37 seconds later to tie it at one.
- Nate Paulo then fired home a goal just 14 ticks after that, giving the Tars a 2-1 lead.
- The Saints tied things back up at two just over a minute later, and the score would remain tied for the rest of the quarter.
Second Quarter
- Maryville put home the first two goals of the second quarter before Williams and Johnstone scored 33 seconds apart to tie the game at four.
- The visitors put four more goals home before halftime to take an 8-4 lead into the break.
Third Quarter
- Sean Caracciolo tallied the lone marker in the third for the Tars as Maryville extended its lead to 11-5 with three goals of its own.
Fourth Quarter
- After the Saints went up 13-5 the Blue and Gold rattled off four goals in just over four minutes to close the gap to 13-9, but Maryville scored three more times in the closing minutes to pull away for the 16-9 victory.

The Tars will open up SSC play next Saturday, March 22, when they travel to Boca Raton to take on Lynn at 1 p.m.
