BELMONT, N.C. (February 7, 2025) – The eighth-ranked Rollins men's lacrosse team kicked off the 2025 season on Friday with a dominating performance, besting Belmont Abbey (1-1) by a score of 17-6.
Logan Myers led the way with three goals while
Max Armitage chipped in with two goals and an assist.
Aaron Williams,
Logan McHugh, and
Jack Johnstone all posted a pair of goals as well.
Maxwell Beuck (1-0) earned the win in his first career start, making 10 saves on 16 shots.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Quarter
- Myers got the game's first goal just over four minutes into the contest, which proved to be the lone goal of the opening quarter.
Second Quarter
- The Crusaders tied things up early in the second, but Rollins went on a tear from that point, rattling off eight straight goals in the period.
- Armitage scored less than a minute after BAC tied the game, with Williams and Johnstone netting goals over the next 88 seconds to make it 4-1.
- The Tars put home five more goals in the final six minutes of the half, building a 9-1 advantage.
Third Quarter
- Belmont Abbey scored 1:11 into the third, but Armitage, McHugh, and Dominic Cesarone each potted goals to push the lead to 12-2.
- The Crusaders scored two late goals in the quarter to make it a 12-4 game heading to the fourth.
Fourth Quarter
- Myers and Will Brandt tallied the first two markers of the final quarter to reestablish a 10-goal lead (14-4), and the Tars were never challenged from there, coasting to a 17-6 win.
