No. 17 Tars Drop Road Contest at No. 22 Florida Tech

Rollins returns home next Tuesday to host No. 3 Adelphi

MELBOURNE, Fla. (February 21, 2025) – The 17th-ranked Rollins women's lacrosse team dropped a non-conference road game on Friday at No. 22 Florida Tech, 12-14. The Tars are now 1-2 on the season, while the Panthers improve to 2-3.
 
Katie Bell led the Tars with five points on four goals and an assist, while also picking up a game-high three ground balls. Delaney Hudson chipped in with two goals, an assist, and two draw controls, while Aleksa Allen tallied a pair of goals and two DCs. Angelina Vitale (1-2) made six saves in goal for the Blue and Gold.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Quarter
  • Florida Tech got off to a fast start, scoring the first five goals of the game in the first 6:21 of action.
  • Hudson got the first goal for Rollins, which sparked a massive 8-0 run that spanned nearly a full quarter of play.
  • Delanie Abere and Bell each found the back of the net in the final minutes of the first quarter as Florida Tech maintained a 5-3 lead after one period.
Second Quarter
  • The Tars kept the momentum going in the second, scoring five straight goals to open the quarter, taking an 8-5 lead with 6:03 left in the half.
  • The Panthers answered back, scoring four goals before the break, with Abigail DeGroat also netting a marker in that time, leading to a 9-9 tie after 30 minutes of play.
Third Quarter
  • Sydney Nickel and Bell scored the first two second-half goals, but the home team responded with two goals late in the quarter to tie things up at 11 heading to the final period.
Fourth Quarter
  • Florida Tech scored less than a minute into the fourth, but Bell tied the game once again with her fourth goal of the game, knotting the score at 12 with 6:35 left.
  • The Panthers scored just over a minute later and were able to hold on, scoring the final goal with one second remaining to claim a 14-12 victory.
 
UP NEXT:
Rollins will return home to kick off an eight-game home stand on Tuesday, February 25th, when No. 3 Adelphi comes to town for a 7:30 matchup.
