No. 21 Rollins Upsets No. 6 Adelphi, 13-8

The Tars are back home on Friday to host Anderson at 7:30 p.m.

WINTER PARK, Fla. (February 25, 2025) – The 21st-ranked Rollins women's lacrosse team pulled off an impressive upset win on Tuesday night, defeating sixth-ranked Adelphi, 13-8. The Tars are now 2-2 on the season, while the Panthers fall to 1-2.
 
Katie Bell led the way with five goals while Delanie Abere contributed three goals and three assists. Delaney Hudson added two goals and three assists, and Aleksa Allen chipped in with two goals and two draw controls. Anya Studebaker (1-0) got the win in goal, making one save on three shots in 16:20 of relief action in net.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Quarter
  • Rollins started strong, outscoring the Panthers 5-0 in the first quarter.
  • Bell put home the first two goals, with Allen, Hudson, and Allegra Ryan all finding the back of the net as well.
Second Quarter
  • Allen netted her second goal to open the scoring in the second quarter, with Abere potting two markers and Bell scoring her third goal of the night as well, as Rollins increased its lead to a commanding 9-0 with 4:45 to play in the opening half.
  • The Panthers got going late in the half, scoring three goals in the closing minutes to make it a 9-3 contest at the break.
Third Quarter
  • Adelphi scored the first four goals of the third quarter to trim the deficit to 9-7, but Abere put home a big goal to stop the momentum with 17 seconds left in the quarter, giving the Tars a 10-7 edge heading to the fourth quarter.
Fourth Quarter
  • After AU scored first to make it 10-8, the Blue and Gold responded with three straight goals, including two from Bell, to build the lead to 13-8 with 6:36 to play.
  • Rollins was stout defensively in the final minutes, allowing just one goal to a desperate Adelphi squad, giving the Tars a 13-9 win.
