No. 20 Tars Take Down No. 17 Limestone

The Blue and Gold will take on No. 21 Florida Tech next Friday

GAFFNEY, S.C. (February 14, 2025) – The 20th-ranked Rollins women's lacrosse team picked up its first win of the season on Friday, defeating No. 17 Limestone on the road, 9-5. The Tars are now 1-1 on the season, while the Saints drop to 2-2.
 
Hudson Delaney and Alicia Cannon led the Tars with two goals and two assists apiece. Whitney MacMillan led the team with three ground balls, while Angelina Vitale (1-1) made 11 saves on 16 shots to earn the win in goal.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Quarter
  • Limestone got off to a quick start, scoring the first three goals to go up 3-0 just under nine minutes into the game.
  • Rollins got on the board with a goal from Hudson in final five minutes of the quarter, closing the gap to 3-1.
Second Quarter
  • Allegra Ryan made it a one-goal game just over six minutes into the second period, and Katie Bell tied things up with the only other goal of the quarter, sending the teams to the halftime break tied at three.
Third Quarter
  • McGarry scored the first goal of the second half to give Rollins its first lead of the game, with Abigail DeGroat following up with a goal at the 9:01 mark to make it 5-3.
  • The Saints got one back to make it a 5-4 game heading to the fourth quarter.
Fourth Quarter
  • Hudson scored 44 seconds into the quarter, though Limestone answered a few minutes later to keep the deficit at one goal (6-5).
  • Cannon netted the next two goals and Aleksa Allen put the final marker on the board as the Tars pulled away late for the 9-5 win.

Rollins will take on No. 21 Florida Tech in a non-conference contest on Friday, February 21 at 3 p.m. in Melbourne.
