Berger Claims First Pitcher of the Week Award

Senior righty tossed five no-hit innings at West Florida

MELBOURNE, Fla. (February 10, 2025) - The Sunshine State Conference announced their players of the week for games played February 3-9. Among the winners was Rollins senior starting pitcher Nick Berger, who was named the Pitcher of the Week.

Berger put together a nearly flawless effort in his outing against #14 West Florida on Saturday. Needing a win to avoid the series sweep, the Tars gave the ball to their most consistent starter of the past two years. The Winter Park native delivered in a big way, firing five innings without allowing a hit while walking just one in the 15-6 Tars win. He retired the first ten batters he faced before walking Cde Easterbrook. Undaunted, Berger then put together two outs to end the inning, and then struck out a pair in the fifth to wrap up his day. With the Tars holding a comfortable lead, the coaching staff decided to pull Berger in order to get valuable work in for some other arms.

With the win, Berger moves to 2-0 on the young season. In ten innings in the mound, he has allowed seven hits, walked one and struck out nine. He has allowed one run for 0.90 ERA, is holding opposing hitters to a .194 average, and has a WHIP of 0.80.

This is the first career Pitcher of the Week award for Berger, who is a two-time All-SSC pitcher.
