This Week in Athletics: November 5

Soccer enters the postseason, volleyball hosts a pair, and hoops will have two home exhibitions

November 5, 2025

Greetings #TARnation!

It's fall crossover season! Soccer playoffs, volleyball and swimming still going strong, and the start of basketball combine for an action-packed month of November. What if I told you that there are home events on 16 of the 30 days in November?! The madness has already begun ... let's get you caught up:

- Men's soccer defeated Saint Leo and earned a draw against #8 Palm Beach Atlantic last week. The win vs. the Lions was a 1-0 thriller that saw freshman Tolu Junaid score the lone goal of the match. On Saturday, the lads squared off against the top team in the SSC, and led for 88 minutes before the Sailfish tied things up late for a 1-1 draw. The Tars only had two losses in conference play during the regular season, and are primed for a playoff run.

- Women's soccer came through in the clutch, winning their final two games of the regular season slate to solidify a playoff spot. Wednesday saw a 4-2 drubbing of Saint Leo that included two goals from freshman Alayna Townsend and two assists from Emma Griner. In Saturday's senior day win over Palm Beach Atlantic, freshman defender Gabby Mellett headed in a Griner corner kick for a 1-0 win. Shout to the six seniors who played their final home game at Cahall-Sandspur Field: Gabby Boyd, Lexie Cooper, Darian Ehrmantraut, Alice Tesser, Harmoni Thomas, and Jessie Wade.

- Volleyball played well on Friday, taking defending national champion #10 Lynn to five sets before falling just short. Martina Tsaneva led the attack with 14 kills, while Robinson Repass had seven blocks on defense. Things didn't get any easier on Saturday as the Tars had to face #3 Barry on the road. Repass added four more blocks to her season total, and she was rewarded on Monday afternoon with the SSC Defensive Player of the Week award.

- Swimming plundered the visiting Barry Buccaneers on both the men's (198-59) and women's (189-35) sides. Things started off in the best way with Rollins take the top three spots in both men's and women's 400 medley relay. Seth Basinger finished first in men's 500 free and 1000 free, while Julianne Armstrong took the women's 500 and Leah fonnotto captured first in the 1000 free. Things went this way in virtually every other event the rest of the day, giving the Tars a nice shot of confidence.

- Baseball wrapped up their fall season with an exhibition game against UCF at Alfond Stadium. Playing in front of a standing room only crowd, the Tars saw some big swings from newcomers Xavier Lopez and Elvin Figueroa, and solid efforts from Noah Greenseid and Brett Dennis. The two teams welcomed youth players from the Central Florida Miracle League, including a pregame meet-and-greet as well as fun games between innings.

- Freshman Lindsay Lee took home the SSC Women's Golfer of the Week award thanks to her runner-up finish at Flagler's Fall Slam last week. Her score of 211 (-5) was the lowest of her young career, and helped the Tars capture the first-place trophy.

- Men's soccer (8-3-5) turns the page towards the Sunshine State Conference tournament which will begin on Monday, November 10. The lads have secured a home match for Monday, but they do not know yet what seed they will be or who they will play. That information will be available following the Florida Tech/Barry match on Thursday. Regardless, be sure to join your fellow Tars at Cahall-Sandspur Field at 6 pm Monday night. The postseason is where legends are made... we will see what Coach Buckley's squad has up their sleeve next week! The Tars carry a six-match unbeaten streak into the postseason.

- Women's soccer (7-5-3) will also ride high into the SSC tournament next week. Fresh off two home victories to secure their spot to play for a conference championship, the ladies will hit the road against an opponent to be determined following Wednesday's matches. The Tars sent the seniors out in style from the home sweet home of Cahall-Sandspur Field at Barker Family Stadium to conclude the regular season. Now it is time to run the table for a conference tournament title!

- Volleyball (14-12) returns to defend home court this weekend after a four-game road stand. The Tars play host to #1 Tampa (21-0) on Friday night, hoping to spoil the Spartans' undefeated season. The first set from Warden Arena begins at 7pm. The following day, Coach Robinson's squad will be back in action for a date with rival Florida Southern (11-11). Bring your friends… and your parents if they are around because it's Parent's Day! Prior to the match, Rollins College volleyball parents will be recognized. First serve takes place at 4pm. Both home games are a chance to avenge early season losses before the Tars head back on the road to face the Eckerd Tritons (14-10) on Tuesday night. Rollins walked away with a thrilling, five-set victory the last time those two got together.

- Bow Wow once said that basketball was his favorite sport – he must be loving this time of year! Rollins College hoops is back in session! Come out tonight for a sneak peek at the women's team as they square off with the Flagler Saints. Then come back Thursday for men's action as Coach Hogan's squad takes on Atlantis University. Both exhibition games take place at 6pm from Warden Arena. Come out and support your Tars as they prepare for the regular season, which is just ten days away!

- Finally, clear your Friday afternoon schedules because you won't want to miss this. The world-class Rollins waterski team will take the lake from 12-2pm for an exhibition event, performing tricks, jumps, and races you have see to believe from world champion skiers. Please don't try these stunts at home, folks!
