WINTER PARK, Fla. (October 25, 2025) - The Tars Cup Challenge wrapped up yesterday in exciting fashion as a grand total of $294,413 was raised across the entire athletics department, the highest total in the event's history! This number equates to more than double the initial fundraising goal of $125,000, making the feat even more impressive.
The sailing team took home first place in the challenge, raising $55,120 with 18 athletes on the roster, equaling $3,062 per athlete. With the first-place incentive, Coach Esteban Forrer's squad will take home an additional $5000 bonus funding gift. This is the second consecutive year that sailing has raced to victory and secured the Tars Cup Trophy.
Rowing secured the most overall money raised, setting a new record of $100,425. With 60 rowers on the roster, they took second place in the challenge with $1,673 per athlete, earning a $3,000 incentive for their efforts. In addition, the program had the most advocate-generated gifts, scoring the Tars Cup Challenge MVP award, which secured an additional $1,250 bonus.
Men's tennis raised over $1,500 per team member and received a $2000 bonus for third-place.
In all, 509 different people made a donation to help Rollins athletics. A special thank you to all who contributed in supporting our student-athletes financially throughout the challenge. Your gift, no matter the size, makes a huge difference in the lives of our Tars. We thank you for your generosity and continued support of Rollins College Athletics!
