WINTER PARK, Fla. (November 24, 2025) - Men's basketball recovered nicely from their last game with a convincing 90-63 win over Puerto Rico Bayamon on Monday night. The win moves the Tars to 3-2 on the season, while the Vaqueros fall to 0-3.
The Tars went up quickly with five points from
Ricky Ghedini and
Jah Nze. A pair of triples from
Omar Figueroa, as well as one from Nze, soon had the score 14-2.
After the media timeout, Rollins started focusing on finding looks down low. Big man
Mayson Quartlebaum was particularly effective, using his height and weight advantage to gain great position.
The teams traded threes for a while, but the Tars maintained a healthy lead. One of the highlights of the game came around the five minute mark when Ghedini followed up a missed layup with an emphatic put-back slam. Then, for the second game in a row,
Ian Hart scored at the first half-buzzer, bending his body around a defender for a tough layup at the horn, giving the Tars a 48-30 halftime lead.
The second half saw both teams ready to fire, as they combined to score 11 points in the first minute of play. The Vaqueros caught a bit of heat from deep, and managed to get as close as twelve at 58-46, but would not get closer for the rest of the game.
Head coach
Kevin Hogan was able to work his entire bench into the game as Rollins worked the clock and practiced running their offense. The result was a 90-63 win as they scored 42 points in the second frame.
Omar Figueroa led the Tars with 16 points while adding three rebounds and three assists. Nze was next in line with 15 points, while Quartlebaum added 13 and nine boards. Rollins shot 47% from the field and hit eleven threes. Kendrick Romero had 15 to lead Bayamon.
It'll be a quick turnaround for the boys as they host Warner tomorrow night, November 25, at 7 pm in their last game of November.
