Novoa Earns #5 National Ranking

Sophomore had a stellar fall season

GILBERT, Az. (November 13, 2025) – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released their annual preseason rankings to conclude the fall slate on Wednesday and there was a familiar name near the top. Rollins sophomore Alyssa Novoa ranked #5 to put an exclamation point on her first fall in Winter Park, a historic achievement in line of others in her young career.

Novoa's top five ranking is the highest ITA fall standing our research desk could find. Back in the fall of 2009, Rollins junior Roshni Luthra ranked twenty-first in the preseason poll. Luthra's illustrious career included All-American status and a top ten ranking at year's end of her sophomore season. If history repeats itself, Novoa is just getting started. The local product out of Apopka made a run all the way to the ITA Cup semifinals last month before falling to the #1 overall seed. Today's news only adds to the fantastic start Novoa is off to while donning the blue and gold.

Rollins Head Coach Tasi Purcell Batista had this to say about the feat:

"It's been some time since we've had a Rollins player featured in the Fall rankings, and we're excited to keep putting in the work. Alyssa has truly distinguished herself with all of her efforts, and seeing her growth has been incredibly rewarding. Her teammates have been incredibly supportive every step of the way — and I am grateful for the culture they all have created."

The Tars will continue building that winning culture this Spring. The ladies will take the court for their first match of the 2026 slate on January 23rd when the Hatters of Stetson pay a visit to the astonishing Tennis & Golf Center. Stay tuned!
